Loft bedroom ideas for the real wow factor
Loft bedrooms are definitely up there as one of the cosiest and most stylish stars of the interior design world.
Whether you’re working with a warehouse-style loft or more of a nook, both eventualities will require an understanding of the unique qualities of this kind of space. Primarily, we’re talking about sloped ceilings, skylights, and potentially awkward angles.
Strap in for 5 top tips on how to get the most out of your bedroom loft:

1. Low bed
Sloped ceilings mean that a bed with a high headboard just won’t work and there’s no point forcing it in when you could be embracing that cosy loft life. A bed low to the ground can create a really lovely vibe and make the space feel less crowded.
You might think about floating the bed in the middle of the room rather than putting it against a wall, which will work better in the loft space and put sleep right where it should be – centre stage.

2. Mirrors
Mirrors are the oldest trick in the book when it comes to creating the appearance of space. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, people.
If your loft is on the smaller side, strategically placed mirrors can make all the difference. Wall-mounted ones might not work so well with sloped ceilings, so consider a standing mirror, which will help to open up the space whilst adding a bit of glamour to proceedings.
3. Storage
When it comes to loft bedrooms, storage is your friend. Or shall we say, storage should become your friend.
Sloped walls and funny angles mean that standalone pieces can be awkward, so you might want to think about investing in some made-to-measure storage that meets your every requirement.
If that’s not possible, then there are plenty of ways around this, like under-bed storage, or a chest of drawers that is squat enough to fit in.
4. Lighting
The lighting that you choose for your loft bedroom is completely dependent on whether the ceiling is flat or slanted. Flat ceilings obviously give you many more options, but slanted ceilings require a little more imagination.
Spotlights or wall lights really come into their own in a loft situation, but you might be able to sneak a pendant light in depending on the ceiling situation. The key is to familiarise yourself with the space and to work with what you’ve got.

5. Bring nature in
If your loft has a skylight then your bedroom will get lots of natural light, but you might not have a view of the outside world. A great way around this is to bring nature in and adorn your loft bedroom with plants and other greenery which will freshen up the space and give it a bit of vitality.
If you’re green-fingered then you can go to town with whatever you fancy. If you’re more of a beginner then why not start with a Monstera (otherwise known as a cheese plant). If you’re a bona fide plant killer then stick to cacti and succulents, they can look after themselves.
So, whether you invest in an ottoman storage bed to maximise space, or simply introduce some greenery into the room - these loft bedroom ideas will help you to create the ultimate haven that you’ll never want to leave.
Perfect for small spaces, these ottoman beds will provide you with a little extra storage.
